Toxic Ingredients to avoid in your skincare

Aluminium Hydrochloride – linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease; aluminium compounds are neurotoxic to humans

Benzalkonium Chloride – immune system, lung and skin toxicant; can trigger asthma; restricted in China and Japan

Benzyl Alcohol – strong neurotoxicant; can cause allergic reaction in lungs & itching, burning, blistering of skin; causes liver damage in animals

Cetyl Alcohol – skin and eye irritant in humans

Coal Tar – known human carcinogen; causes lung & urinary tract cancer; potent skin irritant; baqnned in many countries but still used in some anti-dandruff shampoos

Cocamide DEA – strong human skin toxicant and suspected carcinogen; causes irritation of skin, eyes and lungs in humans

Diethanolamine (DEA) – linked to brain abnormalities in animals; may be contaminated with carcinogen 1,4-Dioxane

EDTA (Disodium EDTA) – this penetration enhancer is a neurotoxin linked to brain damage in animals; made from formaldehyde (known human carcinogen); causes liver damage in animals

Ethylparaben – skin and eye irritant; endocrine disruptor linked to breast and ovarian cancer

Hydroquinone – (anti-pigmentation/lightening ingredient) eye, lung and nervous system toxin; suspected liver and stomach carcinogen

Isobutylparaben – skin and eye irritant; endocrine disruptor linked to breast and ovarian cancer

Mineral Oil – causes blood and skin cancer formations in animals; eye and skin irritant, non biodegradable environmental toxin

Sodium Laureth Sulfate – skin irritant; water contaminant; may be contaminated with 1,4-Dioxane

Talc – even when it contains no asbestos has been proven fibrogenic (causes tissue injury and fibrosis); skin and lung irritant
